We are pleased to present this Trinity Forum Reading, featuring the life and writings of physician and theologian Dr. Albert Schweitzer.

A musician, writer, theologian, and physician, Schweitzer won the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy on “Reverence for Life” to emphasize the importance of valuing life and human dignity. His work continues to influence international medical missions, beginning in 1940 with the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship, which first served the Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon, West Africa and has since expanded to over 2,000 Fellows involved in healthcare for vulnerable populations worldwide. Schweitzer’s work raises timely questions for us today on how to care for those most in need.
