Letters From Vincent van Gogh

We are delighted to present this Trinity Forum Reading featuring selections from the letters of Vincent Van Gogh. 

In the course of Van Gogh’s brief life, he not only created nearly 2,000 paintings, drawings and sketches of haunting beauty – only one of which sold in his lifetime — but also left behind a remarkable trove of over 900 letters. His missives offer a revealing view of what propelled him to portray humble subjects with such dignity, continue his pursuit in the absence of support or encouragement, and seek to illuminate in the paint the “yearning for the infinite.”  And in doing so, they provide profound insights into our own discernment and appreciation of beauty and the manifestations of God’s presence in the call to create.
